Welcome to the St Aloysius’ Church website. This city-centre Jesuit Catholic Church serves the Catholics in Glasgow and the West of Scotland and beyond.
The gracious gift of almighty God in the sending of his Son, what St Augustine called the Sacrament of the Incarnation, and the continuing work of the Holy Spirit in penetrating the depths of God’s love, a light that the darkness cannot overcome, leads us here to pray to the saints and worship Christ with the love of God which has been poured into our hearts.
We seek to deepen the life of all who come here with our emphasis on the vital importance of the spiritual life, outlined in the Spiritual Exercises of St Ignatius Loyola, the founder of the Society of Jesus. The care of souls, through the sacraments, preaching and works of mercy, gives St Aloysius a unique Jesuit and catholic flavour which makes the church a haven of solace and peace in the midst of the city.
Please do browse through these pages and learn about our way of proceeding and, if you can, come and see the wonder and beauty of this church built one hundred years ago to the greater glory of God. May almighty God bless you, keep you from all evil and call you into his wonderful light.
